China Railway announced Tuesday that it has recently optimized its train ticket purchase and identity verification system for international residents and visitors.According to an article published by the company's Weibo on Tuesday evening, holders of the new version of foreign permanent resident identity cards can register on 12306 (a nationally operated train ticket booking platform) and purchase train tickets online like ordinary Chinese people holding ID cards.PR card holders can also enjoy self-service, such as checking personal information at the station's turnstiles and checking in and out.
In addition, starting from Tuesday, international travelers holding ordinary passports can check their personal information online on the 12306 platform, and fill in information such as name, nationality, and passport ID.They can also upload photos of passport information to the platform for checking and verification.After completing the verification of their information on the platform, international travelers can purchase train tickets directly.Previously, the verification of personal information for international travelers could only be completed through on-site staff services at train stations.The company stated in a press release that it now provides on-site staff services in addition to online services.Earlier in September, the National Immigration Administration announced that the country would issue a new version of the Foreign Permanent Resident Identity Card on December 1st (Friday), and a valid current version could still be used.
